Meet Our Osteopaths

Osteopathy – Bath and Corsham

I have been an osteopath for 38 years and hold both an Honours Diploma in Osteopathy and a Bachelor of Osteopathy degree. I graduated in 1982 from the British School of Osteopathy, now University College of Osteopathy, which is Europe’s oldest and largest training establishment for Osteopaths. I am a Member of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy (MSCCO), which is a leading provider of post-graduate training in cranial osteopathy.

I have practiced in a wide variety of clinical settings both in the UK and abroad, in Cyprus and the USA, including children’s clinics and sports injury clinics. I have also worked with a broad range of occupational injuries in both office and manual workers and have experience working alongside medical doctors and physiotherapists.

Osteopathic Interest

I am as passionate about osteopathy today as I was as a student and continue to marvel at its ability to help resolve even the most complex and stubborn of problems.

Since attending my first post-graduate training course in cranial osteopathy in 1985 I have developed a special interest in this field. I like the fact that it is gentle and non-invasive as a treatment and so patients find it easy to relax,  allowing the osteopath to get a lot of information from the body tissues. Children, particularly, are very aware that you are listening to their needs in this way and so tend to respond well, as the treatment is very patient led.

I also enjoy treating women during pregnancy and helping to relieve mechanical discomfort due to the demands of changing posture, hormones and weight distribution. Pregnancy is a special time and it is immensely satisfying to play a part in making it a more enjoyable experience for mother and baby.

I have a special interest and experience in treating patients with headaches and shoulder problems and also enjoy treating feet. However one of the most satisfying aspects of osteopathy is dealing with the diverse range of problems that we see in practice every day which are always interesting, as they are unique to the individual and their particular lifestyle.

I previously trained as an exercise instructor and have taught a variety of exercise classes including aerobics, body conditioning and circuit training. I am therefore well placed to give advice on exercise, warm ups and stretches.I have also worked as an osteopathic technique tutor to undergraduate students at the British School of Osteopathy and as a practical skills tutor in Cranio Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute, UK.

Personal Interests

Outside of work I am a busy wife and mother to my two grown up children plus an assortment of pets. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, sharing good food and wine, travelling, reading and watching good films. I adore flowers and trees and love to be out in nature which I find hugely restorative.

Osteopathy and 1:1 Yoga online – Bath

I qualified at the European School of Osteopathy in 2006. Following graduation whilst living in Brighton I was fortunate to work in a number of busy and well established clinics in Sussex and Kent. These included a clinic well reputed for the excellent treatment of elders for conditions such as arthritic pain, nerve pain, neck and back pain, and a clinic at a University Health Centre offering osteopathic treatment to the student population for symptoms often related to sports injury and stress. I also worked alongside a leading orthopaedic orthodontist treating children and adults for symptoms that can arise during dental brace work such as headache, neck, jaw and back pain.
I relocated back to my home town Bristol in 2009 I have been working at Wellbeing Osteopaths in Bath since 2010. I also currently work in Bristol and Long Ashton.

Osteopathic Interests

I enjoy all aspects of working as an Osteopath, in particular the diversity of the people I meet and the range of conditions that osteopathic treatment can help.
My interest in family centred care, working with women during pregnancy, with newborn babies, toddlers, children (and dads) developed during my undergraduate training in obstetric and paediatric care and when I became a mother myself.  Alongside helping to run the Babies and Children Clinic at Laura Place I have undertaken regular post graduate courses in paediatric and obstetric care.
My commitment to Osteopathy developed out of my previous career as a dancer working in professional, community and educational settings. This background informs my interest in good posture and in helping people to improve their posture through a combination of treatment and tailored exercise.
In my treatments I work with a range of osteopathic techniques such as soft tissue release, articulation of joints, manipulation and cranial treatment. For the past 6 years I have been following a post graduate training in A Biodynamic approach to Cranial Osteopathy. This approach is a particularly gentle one and informs all my treatments.

Personal Interests

I have a long held relationship with yoga which has led me through a range of different practices including Hatha, Ashtanga and Hot Yoga. I have recently also returned to contemporary dance classes and 5 Rhythms. I enjoy walking in my local woodlands and getting out of the city. I have a growing interest in nutrition and I love cooking.

Osteopathy and Sports Massage – Bath and Corsham

Following a career in the media industry at Channels 4 and 5 and the Daily Mail, I saw the light and retrained as an osteopath in 2002. I graduated with a Bachelor of Osteopathy degree in 2007 from the British School of Osteopathy in London.

Osteopathic Interest

Following graduation I completed courses in Cranial Osteopathy, at the BSO and at Turning Point Training in Bath, and in Classical Osteopathy through the Institute for Classical Osteopathy in Surrey.  I also have attended courses in Massage and Sports Massage.

I particularly like to use a variety of techniques in my treatment sessions, mixing Deep Tissue and Soft Tissue massage with structural, cranial and functional Osteopathic techniques, adapting each treatment uniquely to the needs of the particular patient, all based around a general Classical Osteopathic framework.

Since graduation I have worked in various clinics around Somerset and Bath before coming home to roost with Wellbeing Osteopaths in 2015.

Personal Interests

I live in Batheaston with my wife and two rugby playing sons and enjoy, if that is the right word, taking my two Saluki dogs for long walks in very contained fields!

Helen Hudson

Reflexology, Holistic Massage and Myofascial Release – Bath and Corsham

I trained as a Reflexologist at the Bath School of Reflexology in 2000 and as a Massage Therapist in 2008 at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork. I have worked since then at Babington House Hotel and Spa near Frome, treating very lovely but also very discerning clients from all over the world. I am happy to now also be working with Wellbeing Osteopaths at Laura Place Clinic, Bath and The Wellbeing Clinic, Corsham.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists and the Massage Training Institute and as such am constantly learning and improving my skills with further courses and training.

Reflexology is a very relaxing treatment but also a safe and effective way of helping our bodies to rebalance themselves, bringing about positive changes both physically and emotionally and helping to restore vitality and balance.

Holistic Massage includes deep tissue and traditional Swedish massage as well as gentle mobilisations and stretches. This can help to bring about many physical improvements such as releasing tight muscles, improving circulation, nervous function and joint mobility.

The following testimonial is from one of my many satisfied clients:

” I moved to Bath 16 years ago and up until that time had regular massage in London. I’ve had a long history of joint problems, specifically facial and jaw pain and chronic sciatica and finding a skilled and experienced therapist is vital to managing my wellbeing. It took few years to find Helen but without doubt she is the most amazing therapist I have ever met. She has that rare combination of being highly experienced and skilled and at the same time has wonderful intuition, knowing exactly what your body most needs to heal. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation! You will feel like you are floating on air after a massage with Helen, I have the best night’s sleep after a treatment and feel relaxed and well.”

Sharon Charlton – Thomson

Helen is available at Laura Place Clinic each Wednesday from 10am to 7.30pm and at The Wellbeing Clinic each Monday afternoon from 2pm to 6pm. To make an appointment or for further information please call Helen on 07788 585281

Isabelle Arnold

Hypnotherapy, Counselling and Indian Head Massage

NB: Online service available during the Covid-19 clinic closure

I have been a therapist since 2002. I first trained as a counsellor before specialising in hypnotherapy. I am also qualified to practice Indian Head Massage and Reiki level 2.

My approach is sensitive and intuitive and my focus is to help people move forward in their lives and empower themselves.

Hypnosis will help you relax, boost your confidence and your motivation. It is great to combat anxiety and to get rid of phobias. With hypnosis you will let go of stress and negative patterns. It is a great tool to help you stop smoking and release excess weight. Hypnosis will help you overcome personal issues and gain a better perspective of life.

I see clients individually and also run regular relaxation sessions/workshops, where you can learn self help techniques to use in your daily life.

Isabelle is available at Laura Place Clinic on Friday afternoons.

The following is a testimonial from one of my recent clients:

“Isabelle is an amazing lady who immediately puts you at ease, allowing you to discuss whatever issues you would like without embarrassment. Having never had hypnotherapy before, I was concerned about what it would entail and about not being in control. I needn’t have worried as it is a very gentle, relaxing process which allowed me to work through issues much more quickly and successfully than I believe I would have done with regular therapy. In reality, I would never have gone to a ‘regular’ therapist anyway as I did not feel I needed that sort of help. I just wanted to make some positive changes in my everyday life and Isabelle has helped me to achieve that on so many levels. Going to see Isabelle has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am so excited about a future that is not dominated by old hang-ups and the habits that came with them.”

Marie, Bath

Louise Biro BSc(Hons)

Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves, especially related to the spine.
Chiropractic treatment involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise and acupuncture as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.
Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, patients also consult chiropractors regarding a range of other related conditions. (British Chiropractic Association)

I qualified as a Chiropractor in 2004 from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. I have a keen interest in treating low back pain & have additional training in dry needling (acupuncture), Pilates for rehabilitation & treatment of the pregnant pelvis.

I believe chiropractic care is suitable for everybody & will tailor each treatment for the individuals needs.

Louise is available at Laura Place Clinic on Tuesday afternoons. To book an appointment call 07816 526077 or email: Louisebiro@nullgmail.com.

Isabelle Lutz

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

I hold a BSc (Hons) Degree and a Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic Ac) which I obtained from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.

The College is a well-established institute, teaching an integrated style of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and a more classical style of Five Element Acupuncture.

I am fully insured and a member of the Acupuncture Society.

As such I adhere to their Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct and yearly Continued Professional Development.

I feel passionate about what Traditional Acupuncture has to offer, it is not only great at targeting pain and illnesses of various origins but it can help to re-establish a healthy working relationship between mind, body and soul.

In my spare time I enjoy exercise, particularly swimming to offset my other love of good food and I find exercise helps me to keep my mind on the straight and narrow. Of course spending time with family, friends, pets is the glue which holds all other aspects of life together.

Isabelle is available at Laura Place Clinic on Monday mornings and on Thursdays from 4-7pm. For further information or to book an appointment call Isabelle on 07749 598218 or visit https://bath-acupuncture.com

Yoga and Solution Focused Coaching

I am delighted to offer Yoga, The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method and Solution Focused Coaching at Laura Place Clinic.

The yoga that I teach is Hatha Yoga and I specialise in beginner to intermediate classes.
My new addition to teaching yoga is Face Yoga, this is a wonderful way to maintain and enhance a toned and radiant face and neck. By learning face exercises, face massage and acupressure points, you very quickly tone the muscles in the face and neck. An additional benefit is the feeling of wellbeing that comes from practicing this method of yoga.

The coaching aspect of my work is applicable for both young people and adults. Having a coach is a powerful way to go from where you are to where you want to be, in all areas of your life. Please do visit my website www.inspiritconsultancy.com or call 01225 425279 for further information.
